Maca Latte Recipe


Maca, (Lepidium meyenii) is a plant that grows in central Peru in the high plateaus of the Andes Mountains. It has been cultivated as a vegetable crop in this area for at least 3000 years. Maca is a relative of the radish and has an odor similar to butterscotch. Its root, also called Peruvian ginseng is highly prized to make medicine and has been shown to:

  • Increase libido

  • Reduce erectile dysfunction

  • Boost energy and endurance

  • Increase fertility

  • Improve mood

  • Reduce blood pressure

  • Reduce sun damage

  • Fight free radicals

This tasty recipe makes it easy for me to include maca into my diet.

Recipe

1/2 Tsp Maca Powder (gelatinized)

1 tsp collagen powder

1 tsp hemp seeds

1 tsp coconut oil

1 cup milk or alternative milk (click here for a recipe)

1 dash cinnamon (optional)

If using unsweetened milk add 1 tsp of sweetener of your choice

Recommended Sweeteners

  • Honey

  • Maple syrup

  • Coconut sugar

  • Monk fruit powder

Equipment

High speed blender

Directions

  1. If you would like a warm latte, heat the milk on the stove top until desirable temperature is achieved.

  2. Add all of the ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth.

  3. Top with a dash of cinnamon and enjoy!
